Mysterious creature slays chickens, eats puppies

A mysterious creature which allegedly slays chickens to only suck their blood before killing and feasting on dead puppies is reportedly causing terror in Tshelanyemba villagers in Maphisa, Matabeleland South.

Since mid-September the villagers have apparently lost chickens and dogs to the unidentified creature.

A villager, Gordon Sibanda, who is a chicken farmer revealed that he lost more than 100 chickens to the unknown creature

He revealed that after the incident he had sleepless nights and one day when he heard chickens making noise, he rushed to the fowl run and only saw a shadow like creature disappearing into the dark.

"In my life I have never seen such a strange creature and I cannot even describe it. When I got to the fowl run, it just disappeared into darkness. My chickens were lying down headless and it seems it only drained blood as it did not even eat one of them.

"The strange creature only slaughters the chickens and leaves them, but as for puppies it feasts on them."   

Some villagers believe it is a goblin and the village head Mathambo Maphosa confirmed the incident saying: "We're still trying to investigate and find out where this strange creature is coming from.

"It is unfortunate that villagers have lost their chickens and puppies, but as leaders we are still trying to find ways of solving this."
