Man who killed teen nephew over scotchcart arrested

A 46-YEAR-OLD Bulilima man, who reportedly killed his nephew (17) over a scotchcart and fled to Botswana, has been arrested.
Zamani Moyo who stays in Tshukuluthu Village, Maitengwe area was intercepted by the police at Maitengwe Border Post after he was deported from the neighbouring country on Monday.
He had been on the run for about 72 hours.
Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Philani Ndebele confirmed the arrest.
"We have arrested Zamani Moyo in connection to a case of murder. The suspect is in police custody and he is assisting with investigations. Moyo is set to appear in court soon.
"Moyo fled to Botswana and he was among a group of illegal immigrants that were deported yesterday evening through Maitengwe Border Post," said Insp Ndebele.
Moyo allegedly killed his nephew, Takemore Moyo, by striking him with an iron rod on the head.
He was irked that Takemore used his scotch cart and thereafter left it with a punctured tyre on Saturday afternoon.
Moyo fled from the homestead leaving his nephew's lifeless body lying on the ground.
The councillor of Bambadzi area in Bulilima, Zoolakes Nyathi on Monday said villagers teamed up in pursuit of Moyo but his footprints showed that he had crossed into Botswana through an illegal entry point.
