The cancel culture is misogynistic. Mokoena must be silenced by Zanu PF!

6 hrs ago | Views
The political culture of South Africa is not interchangeable with that of Zimbabwean political landscape. These two countries are different even in the processes of gaining their political independence. Ms. Sophie Mokoena knows a political culture that gives space for individual views and can articulate them as she sees fit: it is not how it will be received by Zimbabwean government but about the privilege to speaks out her political views especially events in southern Africa. Why should she be wrong because her views do not resonate with Harare regime. Dereck Goto dares to insult her intellectual abilities and capabilities. Mnangagwa's Zanu PF have been trying to interfere in election processes of their neighborhoods. Dereck Goto must know that SA broadcasting service still has a modicum of independence and respect for free speech. Derek Goto is incensed about professionalism Sophie Mokoena displayed openly without fear. According to Dereck, she must be silenced and put into her place; CANCEL HER. (Good women a silent, if they talk, they must talk to please!)

If Sophie was in Zimbabwe today, she would have found herself at Chikurubi remand prison. We have political prisoners languishing in prisons today for trumped up charges because Zimbabwean government does not allow anyone to express political views incongruent with one owns personal beliefs. Sophie Mokoena commented about Botswana election win by the opposition party. Zanu PF would have preferred Masisi to have won elections by hook and crook. As we speak, Mozambique is burning because Zanu PF interfered with elections: Mnangagwa would have preferred Masisi to win. The outright rigging sprees that take place at every election in Zimbabwe can never be replicated in other countries successfully. The elections in Botswana must be a textbook lesson for the government of Zimbabwe. What is about to happen in Zimbabwe, God alone knows. Zimbabwe is at free fall as we speak.

Ms. Sophie Mokoena is not crude as Derek puts it but smart: it is not only inappropriate for Dereck to deem her lack of professionalism. Dereck's comments smacks of misogyny; the traits of Zanu PF, inherently. Her voice is not congruent with the mainstream politics of the so-called liberation etiquette. Most of these liberation parties cheated citizens to think that fighting for freedom was freedom for all Africans. Subtly they used their citizens to become the black oppressors themselves, and using the same brutal methods white colonizers used, subjugating dissenting voices. My mother languished in Chikurubi Remand Prison for a long time. With the assistance of Christian Aid, she was temporally removed from prison to get adequate treatment. But our political prisoners today can be sick but will never be allowed decent treatment outside prison confines: they are meant to die in prison.

Mnumzana Tendai Mbofana wrote an article not so long ago, a very telling piece of work. He asked: IF SMITH WAS AN OPPRESSOR; THEN WHAT IS MNANGAGWA? His argument is eloquently about the economic meltdown; however, it can be argued politically too. There is no political space to breath in Zimbabwe. I will not go further and say, Mugabe was better: it's not true. There are several situations where one asks herself/himself if the colonial days of white supremist Ian Smith was better than what we call freedom and independence today. Thousands of people perished in genocide activities immediately after 1980 independence: thousands of people died in the white farm invasions of the Millennian. Thousands of people perished in 2008 elections period; (curiously it was Chiwenga and his army who killed and maimed the opposition; he is tipped to rescue the nation from Mnangagwa today!) We do not know the number of soldiers who perished during the 2017 coup that removed President Mugabe from power. The cancel culture does not allow to criticize mismanagement of decades from the past and current governments; We must be patriotic. Shut up!

Patriotic on an empty stomach!

We depend on the voices of Sophie Mokoena to speak on our behalf because her territory as head of SABC is empowering it has ability to critique much volatile cases of high political nature. Mnangagwa is trying to influence SADC presidents to be as corrupt as him. He must not be alone in rigging elections in the region. Sophie Mokoena oversees a foreign desk in South African media and is wholly empowered and well placed to highlight misdemeanors taking place in the SADC region, especially at election times. It is not only Ms. Mokoena who is bitter about Zanu PF: we are equally bitter and too helpless to critique Zanu PF for fear of incarcerations. Dereck cannot tell Ms. Mokoena what to say, and what not to say: Sophie is not beholden of Dereck Goto. She is a professional in her own right. Her platform is powerful and good placed to speak out.

Dereck Goto must be told to stop talking wooden language. South Africa is not Zimbabwe. His attack on Sophie is not only trivial but stupid; he thinks Sophie can be subordinated to the narrow-minded thinking of Zanu PF. Dereck's small article could be a confirmation of panic about what Zimbabwe will become after Botswana elections. If Mozambique is burning today because Mnangagwa interfered with the political processes of electing a democratic Moza government: What is next: Who is next? Apparently, FRELIMO lost the elections. The Gen Zs in MoZa suspect Mnangagwa meddled with the processes leading to the elections: it is for this reason, Ms. Sophie Mokoena queried how Mnangagwa could send congratulatory message to Frelimo whose results had not been declared, who the winner is. That alone she had to be attacked by a misogynist and abject shallow Dereck Goto; His article let out a pungent smell in the nostrils of democratic global citizens about President Mnangagwas twisted actions. Was Mnangagwa privy to the election results in advance? Mnangagwa could not have made it more obvious that he assisted the Frelimo party to rig elections. Or is Mnangagwa giving SADC presidents a steady diet of rigging elections. This time around, it failed dismally in Botswana. I should be pardoned if I said Mnangagwa was shocked and saddened over the Botswana election outcome. He sent his congratulatory message to the president-elect of Botswana pro-forma.  We watch carefully what will happen in Namibia and in Tanzania; There are more regional elections coming in 2025.
