TSHOLOTSHO FC coach Lizwe Svesve still believes they can salvage the season and survive relegation despite falling to visiting ZPC Kariba in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Luveve Stadium.

Svesve said they were not throwing in the towel yet and with 27 points to play for, he believes they can rake in enough points to ensure they remain in the topflight league.

Tsholotsho are second from bottom with 13 points and only a goal difference separates them from log anchors, Border Strikers. ZPC Kariba, who finished with 10 men on the field, held on to their two first half goals as they survived a second half onslaught by Iziqholo in the second half.

While both sides were evenly matched in the first half, it was Tsholotsho who had the upper hand in the second stanza but inaccuracy upfront saw them missing a flurry of chances.

Veteran Thomas Sweswe was given his marching orders in the 81st minute after being shown two yellow cards for remonstrating with the referee Allan Bhasvi after his side had conceded a free kick.

The visitors were quick off the blocks and opened the score sheet in the fourth minute after Timire Mamvura blasted a rebound 22 yards from goal beating Tsholotsho goalkeeper Godwin Saungweme.

ZPC kept the pressure on but and found the second goal when Lincolin Zvasiya headed in the ball off a corner kick taken by Never Tigere in the 36th minute.

The home side did not relent and made a reply in the 44thh minute after Denford Chirwa headed in a reboud.

ZPC coach, Sunday Chidzambwa said they were lucky to get away with maximum points as Tsholotsho came back fighting in the second half.

"Here is one game I would like to forget because of the way we played, we were very shaky. I think we were lucky we scored two goals in the first half. I must give credit to Lizwe, he has got very good youngsters who are technically good and they gave us a very hard time, I think they were unlucky not to get away with a point," said Chidzambwa.

Svesve said his attackers lack maturity in front of goal adding it was unfortunate they failed to convert the numerous chances they created.

He said losing four core players had affected his side.
