Web-based Afro TV set for launch in London

There has been an increasing need to showcase African musicians and film makers, and Afro TV, an internet television channel, will be launched in London on 31 March to do just that.
Founded by Zimbabwean, Sibongile Tendai Tamia Rukazhanga, the television channel aims to provide an alternative space to screen entertaining and educational programmes that include African music shows, entertainment news, dramas, movies and documentaries.
Some of the shows that are in the line-up will include an Afro Gospel Show and the Ngoma Show which is aimed at entertaining Zimbabweans in the Diaspora by providing the latest entertainment updates from Zimbabwe.
Also included in the line-up of shows is Sibs Meets, a talk show programme where Afro TV will be chatting with influential Africans who are excelling within their industries.
Afro TV will also provide training to Africans who wish to work in media.
Meanwhile Catherine Ruze Africa, an Australian-based modelling agency, will be opening its doors in Zimbabwe in February.
Led by a Zimbabwean team, the modelling agency promises to open international doors for models.
Launched in 2009 by Zimbabwean model and fashion show producer Shamiso Ruzvidzo, Catherine Ruze represents models from all over the globe. The agency specialises in model management, deportment and fashion show production.
With a belief that Zimbabwe has amazing talent that has not been discovered or correctly developed, Catherine Ruze Africa will try to bring back the focus on the Zimbabwean fashion industry, starting with the models.
"Our aim is to represent top faces and source them work throughout Africa. Catherine Ruze Africa will not only represent Zimbabwean-based models but models throughout Africa. Our goal is simple, bringing diversity to the world," says Ruzvidzo.
In their search they therefore want models that will appeal to international markets such as Europe and Asia.
Ruzvidzo also added: "We are looking for models that suit the international standard of measurements, which include height and weight, models that are well coached with a strong unique look about them."
Catherine Ruze Africa will officially launch mid-next month by hosting a model casting where male and female models are invited.
