A truck driver who smuggled explosives into South Africa has been sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment by the Musina Magistrate's Court.
Alois Kamwaza was arrested in July at Beitbridge while travelling to South Africa from Zimbabwe.
Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said police searched his truck and found explosives hidden inside a toolbox at the back of his truck.
The 779 blasting cartridges and three reels of detonating fuse, worth R200 000, were destined for Gauteng, said Maluleke.
A second man was handed the same sentence in an unrelated case. Wilman Mwando was arrested in May at Beitbridge with 489 blasting cartridges in his bag, said Maluleke.
