A student from the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) has been hospitalized at Bulawayo's Mpilo Hospital since last month following a fall from a rooftop during a film shooting assignment.
Khayelihle Tshuma, a media studies student, sustained spinal injuries during the accident on April 10 while filming a clip for a film-based module.
Tshuma's classmate, Gladys Mvura, expressed the emotional toll the incident had on her, stating that she struggled to sleep for the first week after it occurred.
Khayelihle's father, Ernest, mentioned the significant medical expenses the family incurred due to the accident.
The student's medical aid covered approximately US$1,100 for spinal surgery and US$800 for an MRI scan.
Thabani Mpofu, Nust's director of communications and marketing, requested inquiries to be sent via email but had not responded at the time of publication.
