The government is finalising the feasibility studies in its drive to increase the pensioners' payout that will see the least paid getting US$100 with results expected by as early as next month.

The plight of pensioners which has seen most of them getting their payouts wiped out by bank charges and bus fares could soon improve as government through the tripartite negotiation forum are finalising modalities on the increase of payouts before the end of the year.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the official opening of the NSSA rehabilitation centre to members of the public in Bulawayo today, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Prisca Mupfumira says a huge announcement in connection with the payout plan is in the offing.

Meanwhile, in his presentation during the open day proceedings, NSSA board chairman, Mr Robin Vera says his organisation decided to open the centre to the public after realising that the number of workers injured at the workplace is becoming less due to improvements in health safety initiatives at the workplace hence the need to maximise the facility's utilisation.

The facility boasts of state of the art equipment and personnel to deal with, physiotherapy, gymnasium, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy and other dormitories.

The rehabilitation centre open day ran under the theme, "Rehabilitate, Return to Work".
