BULAWAYO-based arts practitioner Desire Moyo of Victory Siyanqoba has decided to run as a politician in the forthcoming harmonised elections.

Moyo is vying for the Nkulumane constituency in his bid to become a Member of the House of Assembly.

In an interview with B-Metro, he spoke like a politician promising delivery of services and transparency.

"I know the struggle and pain people from my community go through. We have given many people a chance to represent us but in vain, I therefore pledge to represent people from Nkulumane because their struggle is also my struggle," said Moyo.

Affectionately known as Moyoxide in the arts industry, he has been involved in community based projects to do with HIV/Aids and drug abuse.

He also runs Eziko Theatre Laboratory, a monthly workshop where local artistes are given a platform to express themselves.

What will he do for the arts industry if he wins the parliamentary seat?

"My first target are the youths because they are the future. I will make sure we build more youth centres so that the youth can realise their full potential and be coached about life skills so that they can be responsible citizens," he said.
