The court case of Teddy Chipere, a senior MDC-T official in Makoni Central district, Manicaland, who is facing charges of undermining the authority of the President, was yesterday referred to the Supreme Court after a successful application at the Mutare Magistrate's Courts.
Blessing Nyamaropa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZHLR) successfully made an application for referral to the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
Chipere was arrested in 2010 on false charges that he addressed a rally at Shiriimwe Business Centre in Nyamaropa, Nyanga and described Robert Mugabe as a "dead man".
Chipere is among dozens of citizens who have been dragged to court for passing comments that are regarded as undermining the President's authority.
