Man attempts to extort Minister Ziyambi over adultery claims

Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has survived an extortion attempt by a man who alleges that the Minister is having an affair with his wife.

The man who claims to be married to a senior Law officer within the Ministry of justice legal and parliamentary affairs made a phone call to Minister Ziyambi demanding that they talk as men.

Prior to the call, the man phoned Ziyambi's mother and harassed in an alleged effort to put pressure on the minister so that he panics and releases funds. The man is said to have also contacted Florence Ziyambi the minister's ex-wife whom they are currently embroiled in divorce proceedings.

Ziyambi denied the allegations and refused to talk to the man saying he would not stoop to his level. The Minister also promised to take action against the man.

Commenting on the matter, Itai Gumbo the Chairman of League of Patriots said, "Such malicious reports come with the territory. The minister is a respectable man who has a reputation to maintain and this makes him and any other minister an easy target for extortion. The league of Patriots rebukes such acts and we say hands off Minister Ziyambi, let him concentrate on his mandate of aligning our laws to the new constitution and delivering the Zimbabwe we want."
