Two illegal miners jailed two years

Two illegal miners from Desmond farm, Bindura were jailed two years each by Bindura Provincial Magistrate Tinashe Ndokera yesterday for illegally prospecting for gold.
Author Mukanya (21) and Simbarashe Chiwarange(26) pleaded guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor Shiella Kudzai Maribha told the court that on February 6 at around 1400hrs, security guards who were on duty discovered the two convicts searching for gold using a detector.
The guards approached the convicts and ordered them to switch off their detector and they complied.
The convicts were arrested and taken to the police where they failed to produce a licence that allows them to search for gold.
