A certain section of Umguza Rural District council residents has expressed joy after Umguza Rural District councilors were reinstated by the High court after being suspended for defying a ministerial directive.

Earnest Sibanda, Sisa Moyo, Mary Shelton, and David Moyo, who had been suspended had their suspensions lifted with immediate effect by the High court of Bulawayo.

Honorable Justice Takuva ruled that the suspension of the officials be lifted adding that the officials should immediately revert back to their duties and positions they held prior to their suspension.

The officials were suspended through a letter from the Ministry of Local Government which opened an investigation in terms of section 154 (1) as read with section 157 as amended of the Rural District Council Act Chapter 29:13.

The officials were accused of disregarding a Ministerial directive among other things.

An Umguza resident Mandisa Ncube from Umguza said, "We are happy that our officials are back, it's sad that media focused on the allegations against them and their suspension but no one has focused on the High Court's decision to reinstate them."

Another villager Henry Sibanda added that " We hope this decision will restore sanity and development in Umguza which some people are trying to derail."
