Ekhaya Vote 2023, a consortium of civil society organisations (CSOs) in Matabeleland has reported that the residents of Magwegwe Suburb in Bulawayo are demanding bribes from the organization for them to register to vote in the coming 2023 elections.
The organization is currently engaged in a blitz to mobilize residents of Bulawayo and Matabeleland Provinces to register to vote.
Tweeted the organization, "People want bribes for them to go and #RegisterToVoteZW. Some are saying they deserve to be given tshirts while others are saying they want alcohol. Some other women are saying they want mealie meal in order for them to #RegisterToVoteZW."
The organization is currently doing door to door campaigns and roadshows in rural communities, as well as soccer tournaments and we also do radio programs to mobilize people to register to vote.
