Hips of chrome deposits in Mberengwa
A Youth training vocational training centre at Ngungumbane shops in Mberengwa, Midlands which was built by World Vision and given to the community has been turned into a church by some politicians who are accused of backing massive environment degradation in the name of picking chrome (mining).
The politicians are said to be doing that using Mberengwa Rural District Council TLB to exploit railway line and environment without Environment impact assessment certificate from Environment Managenent Agency at Ngungumbane.
Concerned sources said the church in question is contributing nothing towards skills development in Ngungumbane community in line with achieving middle-income economy by 2030 .
"Now the building is run by the individual through the church without any consultation with the community concerned," sources said.
Efforts to get a comment from Mberengwa RDC were fruitless.
