Diarrhoea kills one in Bulawayo

One person died from diarrhoea at Mpilo Central Hospital, as more than 6,000 common diarrhoeal cases were reported nationwide, according to the Health and Child Care Ministry's weekly Disease Surveillance Report released on Monday via social media platform X. The report covers the week of May 15.
"6,386 common diarrhoea cases and one death were reported this week. The death occurred at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo province. Among the reported cases, 2,936 involved children under five years old," the statement reads.
The Midlands province recorded the highest number of cases with 869, followed by Mashonaland East with 844. The Ministry also noted that the cumulative figures for common diarrhoea this year have reached 120,006 cases and 41 deaths.
