Nakamba gifts Mnangagwa Luton Town club jersey
3 hrs ago | Views
England-based Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba took a moment during his international break to connect with the First Family in a friendly gesture, gifting Collins Mnangagwa, one of President Emmerson Mnangagwa's twin sons, a Luton Town FC jersey. The symbolic presentation took place in Harare while Nakamba was participating in the Warriors' 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The 30-year-old midfielder has previously visited the President, gifting him a jersey from his EFL Championship club, Luton Town. However, such gestures have drawn criticism from some, who view them as implicit endorsements of Mnangagwa's contested leadership. The President's administration remains polarizing, with allegations of electoral malpractice and corruption fueling discontent among certain sections of Zimbabwe's population.
Celebrating ZPC Hwange's Promotion
Nakamba also took time to congratulate ZPC Hwange on their promotion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after winning the ZIFA Southern Region Division One title. The achievement is particularly sentimental for the Nakamba family, as Marvelous' father, Antony Nakamba, played for ZPC Hwange during the club's early years in Division One nearly 30 years ago.
"As a family, we're thrilled about ZPC Hwange's promotion," Marvelous said. "It's my dad's team, and growing up, I always heard stories about his time there. Naturally, it holds a special place in my heart."
The promotion ends a long wait for the club, bringing them back into Zimbabwe's top-flight football, a milestone celebrated by the Nakamba family and fans alike.
