A 30-year-old man, Moses Makoni, who was convicted for theft earlier this week, stunned the court gallery when he claimed that the complainant had forced him to eat human waste. Makoni made the allegations during his appearance before Bulawayo Magistrate Maxwell Ncube, who convicted him on charges of unlawful entry and theft.

Makoni, who has no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to stealing household items from Joyce Mudenda (44), but in an unexpected turn of events, he claimed that after he was caught, he was assaulted by Mudenda and forced to consume faeces.

"I admit to the offence. I stole the buckets, wheelbarrow, and umbrella. When I was caught, I was assaulted and forced to eat faeces," Makoni told the court.

The court, however, advised Makoni to report his claims to the police for further investigation. Magistrate Ncube recommended that he file an official report against Mudenda for the alleged assault and forced consumption of human waste.

The theft took place on November 30 in Parklands, Bulawayo, when Makoni unlawfully entered Mudenda's home through a window and stole two buckets, a wheelbarrow, and an umbrella. A report was made to the police, leading to Makoni's arrest.

While the theft charges were settled, the court's handling of Makoni's shocking claims has drawn attention. Authorities are now expected to investigate the allegations of assault and forced consumption of human waste, with Makoni advised to seek the necessary legal channels for further action.
