A 22-year-old man from Magama Village in Masvingo has been arrested after committing two burglaries at the same house within a month. The suspect, Phillip Mupinda, is accused of stealing two bags of maize during his first break-in at a home in Mashonga Village in November 2024. He returned later in the same month to steal a black satchel, a maroon blanket, and a cellphone.
Police detectives apprehended Mupinda after receiving a tip-off. According to an official statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPA), the stolen property was recovered following the suspect's arrest.
The NPA shared on X, formerly Twitter, "He was arrested by police detectives and led to the recovery of the stolen property, following a tip-off."
Authorities have used the incident to caution the public as the festive season approaches. "Members of the public are urged to secure their property during the festive season as cases of unlawful entry tend to rise during the period," the NPA said.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon, facing charges of unlawful entry and theft.
