Former Manicaland Governor dies at 83

Former Manicaland Provincial Governor and decorated liberation war veteran, Tinaye Elisha Nzirasha Chigudu, has passed away at the age of 83.

Chigudu died last night at his home in Mt Pleasant, Harare, after a prolonged illness. His passing was confirmed by his brother, Edgar Tafirenyika Chigudu.

"My brother passed on at his Mt Pleasant home," said Edgar Chigudu.

A revered figure in Zimbabwe's liberation history, Tinaye Chigudu fought for the country's independence as a member of the Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU) military wing, ZIPRA.

After independence, Chigudu served in several key positions within the civil service, including his notable tenure as Governor of Manicaland Province. Throughout his life, he remained committed to the ideals of freedom and nation-building, earning widespread respect for his contributions.

Chigudu's death marks a significant loss for the nation, particularly for those who continue to honor the sacrifices of liberation war heroes. Funeral arrangements and details regarding his burial are yet to be announced.

Zimbabweans across the nation are mourning his passing and celebrating his legacy of service and dedication to the country's independence and development.
