Zimbabwe's senior men's national football team, the Warriors, have been placed in Group A alongside hosts South Africa, Mozambique, and Mauritius for the 2025 COSAFA Cup tournament, which kicks off on June 4.

The regional competition, a key fixture in Southern African football, will feature 14 teams vying for top honours in what promises to be a fiercely contested edition. The tournament will run until June 14, with all matches scheduled to take place in South Africa.

In addition to Zimbabwe's group, Pool B features Namibia, Angola, Malawi, and Lesotho. Pool C comprises Madagascar, Eswatini, and guest nation Morocco, while defending champions Zambia will contend with Comoros and Botswana in Pool D.

The Warriors will be looking to redeem themselves after last year's disappointing campaign, where they failed to progress beyond the group stages. With a renewed squad and a point to prove, the team is hoping to make a deep run in the tournament this time around.

The inclusion of Morocco, a guest participant, adds extra intrigue to the tournament, which serves as both a developmental platform for emerging talent and a competitive stage for regional bragging rights.

Zimbabwe's preparations are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, with coach Michael Nees likely to blend local stars with Europe-based prospects as part of the country's broader football revival strategy.

The COSAFA Cup remains a crucial opportunity for Zimbabwe to strengthen its regional standing and rebuild confidence ahead of upcoming AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.
