Disputes over goat leads to murder, suicide

A heartbreaking incident rocked Mvundura Village in Kasekete, Muzarabani, after a suspected goat theft escalated into a fatal confrontation that left one man dead and another having taken his own life.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the tragic event, which occurred on June 3, 2025, involving 21-year-old Gamuchirai Mvundura and 51-year-old Jestos Tsikire.

According to police, Mvundura allegedly confronted Tsikire over accusations of goat theft. The altercation turned violent, with Mvundura reportedly attacking and fatally assaulting Tsikire during the dispute.

In a shocking turn of events, Mvundura is believed to have subsequently taken his own life by hanging shortly after the incident.

Police investigations are underway, and authorities have urged community members to resolve disputes through peaceful means and to seek help from traditional leaders or law enforcement before resorting to violence.

The double tragedy has left the small rural community in shock, with villagers mourning the loss of two lives over what began as a dispute involving livestock.
