Police in Kwekwe have uncovered a criminal syndicate in possession of smuggled offensive weapons, including an SP500 bleak barrel pistol, an Atumers rifle with a scope, pellet guns, okapi knives, axes, pepper spray, electric shockers, and rifle telescopes.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the operation, dubbed "No to Illegal Firearms, Toy Guns, Dangerous Weapons and Smuggling," led to the arrest of 40-year-old Kiran Naran in the Kwekwe central business district on August 27. The arrest is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on the illegal possession and smuggling of weapons in the country.
Commissioner Nyathi said police are intensifying operations to prevent the circulation of dangerous weapons, ensuring the safety of the public while investigating potential links to broader criminal networks.
