Simba Bhora got their CAF Champions League campaign off to a perfect start on Sunday evening, edging Eswatini's Nsingizi Hotspurs 1-0 in their debut match in the competition.

The preliminary round first-leg clash was staged at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, Botswana, after Zimbabwean clubs were once again forced to play home fixtures outside the country due to the lack of CAF-approved stadiums.

Midfielder Ishmael Nyanhi was the hero of the night, striking in the 57th minute to give the Zimbabwean champions a narrow but vital lead in the two-legged tie.

The result puts Simba Bhora in a strong position ahead of the decisive return leg in Eswatini next week, where the aggregate winner will progress to the first round of Africa's premier club competition.
