Anti-immigrant group Operation Dudula insists it will continue checking the nationalities of patients before they access public healthcare facilities.

This follows a recent Gauteng High Court ruling prohibiting the controversial group from blocking access to hospitals and clinics to individuals they suspect of being undocumented foreign nationals.

The court found the organisation had no legal authority to require anyone to show identification before receiving public healthcare.

Although Operation Dudula leader Zandile Dabula said they planned to appeal the ruling, she maintains the group does not believe their actions are illegal.

"Our way forward is that we are going to continue with our operations. That is the only reason why we are going to appeal, because an appeal will set aside the judgment. I don't think South Africans are ready for this because the hype out there is that people are tired of the illegality from foreigners."
