Businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has donated US$100,000 to a group of former Zimbabwean footballers and coaches aligned with ZANU PF, known as Former Footballers and Coaches for ED. The contribution was announced by ZANU PF Youth League Deputy Political Commissar Taurai Kandishaya during a gathering held at his farm in Murehwa, Mashonaland East.
Kandishaya said Tagwirei's donation would also cover healthcare and provide additional welfare support for the beneficiaries, ensuring the group’s well-being beyond the financial contribution.
At the event, former Dynamos striker Evans Gwekwerere publicly endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa, expressing confidence that the president would remain in office until 2030. The gathering highlighted the growing connections between political figures and former athletes, reflecting the ongoing efforts to mobilise support within various sectors of society.
The initiative is part of ZANU-PF's efforts to engage former sports professionals in economic development programs while strengthening party structures among key interest groups.
