Zimbabwean midfielder Daniel Msendami has officially joined South African Premier Division giants Orlando Pirates from Marumo Gallants, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
Msendami, who impressed for Zimbabwe at the recent AFCON tournament, signed alongside his former Gallants teammate, Mpho Chabastane, with both transfers occurring for undisclosed fees. The move comes after a highly competitive transfer race, with Orlando Pirates securing his signature ahead of rivals Kaizer Chiefs, who were also reportedly interested.
The 25-year-old midfielder becomes the 12th Zimbabwean in history to play for the Buccaneers, joining an illustrious list that includes Marshall Munetsi, Kuda Mahachi, and the late striker Tendai Ndoro. The last Zimbabwean to feature for Pirates was Terrence Dzvukamanja, who left the club in 2023 after scoring 12 goals over three seasons.
Msendami began his senior career in 2018 with Highlanders in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, quickly establishing himself as a talented and versatile midfielder. His move to Orlando Pirates marks the latest step in a rising career and provides the Soweto side with fresh midfield options ahead of the new season.
