Zimbabwe's football giants, Highlanders and Dynamos, are set to reignite their historic rivalry on 15 February in the inaugural Jairos Jiri Charity Cup at Barbourfields Stadium. The match promises to be a high-profile affair, with all proceeds directed toward supporting programmes for people living with disabilities.

Beyond the charitable aspect, the fixture provides an early competitive test ahead of the 2026 season. Highlanders will take the field under new head coach Benjani Mwaruwari, who will use the encounter to evaluate his squad against top-tier opposition. Dynamos, led by Genesis Mangombe, will similarly aim to fine-tune their preparations ahead of competitive commitments, including the Castle Lager Challenge Cup.

Organisers have confirmed that the Jairos Jiri Charity Cup will be an annual event, with expectations of strong attendance fueled by the historic Bulawayo–Harare rivalry. The Jairos Jiri Association has assured both clubs of comprehensive logistical support, including appearance fees, accommodation, and transport, reflecting the professionalism and scale of the initiative.

The match not only promises a thrilling contest on the pitch but also a meaningful contribution to the welfare of vulnerable communities, blending sport with social responsibility in one of Zimbabwe's most anticipated football encounters.
