Dynamos FC are reportedly closing in on the signing of defender Andrew Mbeba, who is currently a free agent after parting ways with Highlanders FC.

Mbeba spent the last three years with the Bulawayo giants but has been searching for a new club since his contract expired in December 2025. Negotiations for a contract extension reportedly broke down after Mbeba requested that Highlanders purchase him a house in one of Bulawayo's high-density suburbs, a demand the club declined.

The versatile defender was Highlanders' sole representative among the finalists for the 2025 Soccer Star of the Year award, underscoring his status as one of the country's top locally based talents.

Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe confirmed the club's interest but remained cautious on ongoing talks.

"I don't want to comment much on that issue, but you know Andrew Mbeba is a very good player. If it happens that we agree on the terms, I think he is a good player we would want to have in our squad," Mangombe said.

Sources indicate that only a few details remain to be finalised and that Mbeba could complete his move to the Glamour Boys before Sunday. Meanwhile, the defender is training individually as he awaits the outcome.

Mbeba is also among the few locally based players called up by Marian Marinica for Zimbabwe's upcoming Four Nations Tournament in Botswana, scheduled from March 23 to 31.
