5 arrested over armed robbery spree in Masvingo

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of four suspects in connection with a series of armed robbery incidents that occurred in Triangle, Chiredzi and Mkwasine in Masvingo Province between January and April 15, 2026.

The suspects - Collen Gweme (28), Probit Njanjure (24), Gift Chibharo (28) and Farai Tazivarose (59), also known as "Chitichi" - were apprehended following a tip-off that linked them to the crimes.

Police said the arrests led to the recovery of a wide range of stolen property, including a Nissan Caravan kombi, assorted groceries, three television sets, solar panels and inverters, a lithium battery, a submersible pump, 16 cellphones, three bicycles and other electrical gadgets.

Authorities believe the group was responsible for multiple robbery cases across the region and have indicated that investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of their activities.
