Missing man found dead in sewer stream

The body of a 40-year-old mentally ill man from Bulawayo was discovered soaked in muddy sewer water along the banks of a sewage stream in Pumula East.
Police identified the deceased as Zithelo Ndlovu, a resident of Gwabalanda.
According to Nomalanga Msebele, the body was found near Ntemba Road in Pumula East on May 16.
Msebele said a 15-year-old boy from Pumula East was walking along the banks of the sewage stream at around 3pm when he made the discovery.
"The body, soaked in muddy sewer water, was lying face down and had no visible injuries," she said.
Police were alerted and later retrieved the body from the scene.
Relatives subsequently identified the deceased and informed investigators that Ndlovu had a history of mental illness and had been missing since May 9, 2026.
The body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals for a post-mortem examination.
Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are continuing.
