Zanu-PF sets second National Cell Day for June

Zanu-PF will hold a second round of National Cell Day on June 27 as part of an ongoing exercise to verify and audit its grassroots structures across the country.

The initiative is aimed at validating cell registers submitted by provincial party organs, with a requirement that membership lists align with polling station records to ensure accuracy and accountability within the party's organisational system.

Zanu-PF Secretary for Security, Lovemore Matuke, said provinces that fail to present verifiable cell structures will face disciplinary action, warning that compliance is not optional.

He said the exercise follows an earlier verification round held in January, which revealed gaps in some provinces' records, prompting a directive for further audits and corrections.

Matuke said the party is giving affected provinces a final opportunity to regularise their structures, adding that failure to comply would trigger internal disciplinary measures.

He emphasised that strengthening cell structures is central to the party's Vision 2030 agenda, describing cells as the foundation where party programmes are implemented and membership is mobilised.

During National Cell Day, all members - from senior leadership to grassroots structures - are expected to participate, with the event also serving as a verification platform for voter registration and membership status.

The exercise will further be used to confirm active members, update records, and recognise both new entrants and deceased members within the party system.

Cell chairpersons have been instructed to use the occasion to engage members on local development priorities such as clinics, schools, and road infrastructure.

Introduced in 2022, National Cell Day forms part of Zanu-PF's broader strategy to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation and organisational capacity through structured membership tracking.
