The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) is modernising its defensive‑driving training as part of efforts to improve road safety and equip motorists with skills to handle hazards on the country’s roads.

Speaking at the launch of the online Defensive Driving Course (DDC) in Harare on Friday, TSCZ managing director Munesu Munodawafa said the council was embracing digital solutions to simplify course delivery and reach more motorists. “The defensive driving course should be easy to access, and we are embracing technology to make that possible,” Munodawafa said.

He said the initiative would complement the council’s wider road‑safety programmes by giving motorists greater opportunities to undergo training designed to promote responsible driving. Defensive driving equips motorists with skills to anticipate hazards, identify risks and respond appropriately to dangerous situations.

Munodawafa said motorists had a key role in reducing road crashes by observing traffic regulations and adopting safer driving practices.

This development contributes to broader discussions around road‑safety innovation and digital driver training.
