SUNGURA muso Tongai Moyo has penned a song that hails Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa. Dhewa sampled the yet to be titled song at a family show held at Harare Gardens on Sunday. The track sent the capacity crowd into frenzy as they called out Makandiwa's name.
In the track, Dhewa hails Makandiwa for his healing powers. One of the lines goes: Inga Makandiwa anoporesa wani (Makandiwa has healing powers). It was not surprising to hear Dhewa showering praises on Makandiwa against the background that he is on record saying that he was receiving spiritual healing and counselling from him.
"Makandiwa has led me through prayers while here in Kwekwe, I received a lot of spiritual guidance from AFM church pastors. "This has been helpful as it eases my tensions and always gives me renewed hope for better health and prosperity," Dhewa was quoted as saying in one online edition.
The resilient Dhewa, who is battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, might have been compelled to consult Makandiwa after missing out on an opportunity to consult with Nigerian preacher TB Joshua at the eleventh hour last year
Meanwhile, Dhewa, who was dressed in an all-red apparel, also combined well with Suluman Chimbetu and belted out the late Simon Chimbetu's yesteryear hit Saina. The combination sent the crowd into an ecstatic frenzy as they gelled well. He also took time to sample new tracks from his forthcoming album and a track entitled Tsotso is likely to shake the city judging from the crowd's response at Harare Gardens.
Unconfirmed reports say that Dhewa's album will be recorded at Diamond Studios following a deal that he struck with them. The stable's artistic and repertoire manager Pathisani Sibanda could neither confirm nor deny the development.
"Well, I can only confirm that we are currently engaged in some discussions with Tongai (Moyo) and we are meeting this week," said Phatisani. Dhewa could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone was switched off.
