The Movement for Democratic Change South Africa Chapter held a successful rally in Johannesburg this past weekend (Saturday, October 20th 2011). The rally was hosted by the Hillbrow Branch at Hillbrow Recreation center and was attended by thousand of Zimbabweans from around Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The Rally was graced by various speakers from Branch to Provincial level: Thando Ncube (Hillbrow branch Chairman); Provincial Deputy Chair, Lovenore Chikandiwa; Jhb District Chair, Freedom Ndlovu; Provincial Youth Organ, Samuel Mavhunga.
There was also a guest speaker from Zimbabwe Phillemon (Blackdog) Moyo, the Matabeland South Provincial Organising Secretary. Several Branches were in attendance to include: the Inner city, Rosebank branch and New lands branch respectively.
Unity was emphasized amongst leadership and tribalism was rebuked in the strongest terms. People were encouraged to register to vote in the forth coming elections and more so the Diaspora Vote was said to be the all important milestone for all Zimbabweans outside the country.
"It is our birth right to vote even in this country which we have sought refuge" JHB District Chairman Freedom Ndlovu.
Thos e who will be able to travel to Zimbabwe were encouraged to register when the time comes and for them to travel back home to go and cast their votes even for the referendum.
"South Africa is a strategic country and its only one boarder away from home. You must all try to come home to register as well as to vote" emphasized Philemon Moyo.
Lovemore Chikandiwa also spoke about unity for a purpose, saying Zanu Pf is fragmented, on the brink of collapsing, we need to unite and focus because we are at the edge of winning, MDC just needs a slight push Zanu will be down for good. The continued incarceration of the MDC Youth leader Cde Solomom Madzore was condemned and many people showed their anger about the matter when the floor was opened. Some said that Zanu PF and its people should immediately stop their madness of harassing and arresting innocent people.
The people's party of excellence has demonstrated its strength through the resilience of the people by relegating Zanu PF to a second-best position in the March 2008 harmonized election. Change is inevitable
