Not picking up calls from a boyfriend landed a woman in trouble as the latter could not stomach the idea of being ignored by his lover.
Iwish Dube from Plumtree under Chief Madlambudzi wished she did not met Mxolisi Ncube (34) also of Madlambudzi, who last week assaulted her for not picking up his calls.
While appearing before Plumtree magistrate's court Mr Joshua Nembaware , Ncube is alleged to have assaulted Iwish using a sjambok at the latter's homestead.
The court learnt that upon realising that his calls were not being picked, Mxolisi visited his girlfriend to investigate why he was being sidelined.
In a clear case of premeditated assault, the court further heard that upon arriving at his girlfriend's homestead, Ncube took out a sjambok from his satchel and started assaulting her all over the body resulting in Dube sustaining injuries all over the body.
A report was then made to the police leading to the arrest of the accused.
He was sentenced to 6months in prison or pay a fine of USD$300.
Mr Arnold Mudekunye appeared for the state.
