Imbibers of Castle lager in Gwanda town say they are having running stomachs after drinking their favorite brew because of rust on the bottle tops.
Most bars have resorted to warning their customers to first wipe off the rust on the bottles before they drink the beer.
Imbibers who spoke to Bulawayo24 accused beer manufacturing company Delta Beverages of negligence and lack of customer care.
"I think it's not only lack of customer care on the part of Delta but also criminal for them to dispatch such contaminated beers," said Mothusi Moyo who had a running tummy after drinking castle. This reporter witnessed some revellers having to use their shirts to wipe of the rust.
Moyo said under normal circumstances Delta must have recalled the beers as they are now aware of the problem.
Although Delta officials could not be reached for comment sources said the beers were affected after a hired truck broke down whilst it was raining resulting in rust.
Delta reportedly feels there are no dangers in drinking the beer despite the visible rust on the bottle tops. The rust has also spread to the bottle mouth.
Rust can also lead to nausea and vomiting although it is relatively unharmful.
