RELATIVES and friends of the late Kalanga music icon Solomon "Jah Solo" Skuza will today stage a show at a local hotel to celebrate the life of the Plumtree legend through music.

Skuza died at the peak of his musical career on May 24 1994.

He was the most popular Zimbabwean musician hailing from Plumtree. Most of his lyrics were in his native Kalanga, Ndebele, Shona and English.

Organisers of the gig pencilled for Selbourne Hotel's Terrace Gardens said a tribute to Skuza would be paid through live music played by his brother Nicholus "Chase" Skuza.

Speaking to Southern Eye Lifestyle, Chase said the show was titled "Zazise Ngokwakini", adding that the gig would mark 20 years since his brother died.

He said he will also give his fans a taste of new gospel album Uphawu lukaSkuza (Skuza's trademark).

"On this album, I included some of Solomon's music that he did not record and some of the songs are already known by the people.

The tracks include Umfundisi, Umzenzi Kakhalelwa and Uphawu lukaSkuza," Chase added.

He said he would be joined by Ndux Junior, Uyala Ugogo hit-maker Magwaza and the Chibuku road to Fame winner Cosmas Mpofu.
