Mthwakazi Republic Party has grabbed the opportunity of ZANU PF's failure to publicly admit any wrong doing in 1983 to 1987 massacres which left more than twenty thousand people dead, dismissing it as a mere moment of madness. The party has managed to gunner a lot of support in the Matabeleland and Midlands provinces which might land the party a number of seats in the Parliament of Zimbabwe. This follows two successful rallies held at Cross Zenka and Mpumelelo Business Centre on Saturday the 22nd of July. Speaking on the sidelines of the rallies Mr Mqondisi Moyo who is the party's president attributed the party's success to the consistent and perennial deliberate marginalisation and deprivation of basic development and infrastructure by the Zanu PF government. Moyo also promised the multitudes gathered at the business centre that the Ndebeles will never be massacred again.

'Guys from CIO were trying to tell us what to say and what not to say and I gave them the constitution to read but they could not find anything. The same Zimbabwean Constitution gives us the freedom to assemble and also the right to belong to any political grouping of your own choice. There shall be no other Gukurahundi again in Matabeleland.'

Moyo also took a swipe at security personnel accusing them of bias and being partisan after they allegedly threaten his party's members highlight that Zanu PF held a similar rally in Lupane and they were not subjected to similar conditions given to MRP.

'Last week Zanu PF was in Lip and but they were not told not to bus people, they were not told what to say, why us? Is it because they want to spread Shona dominance and intimidate people in the region.'

Asked about the election strategy after the rallies were attended by more than four thousand people Moyo said that people attend their rallies willingly compared to Zanu PF violent manner of frog matching villagers to their rallies. 'Our strategy is based on awareness campaigns thereby enghlightening our people about the restoration agenda . also reflecting to them on the resources that Mthwakazi has, and that we can survive without mashonaland. People have so far received us well and they have shown full support to our party and the agenda at large.'

MRP also took the opportunity to campaign for Prince Moyo ward twenty-two council candidate under Nkayi South constituency and Mp candidate for Nkayi south Cde Thembisani Umfulongashi Mpofu from Sikhobokhobo area in Nkayi. In attendance was Mbonisi Gumpo Information and Publicity, Ackim Gasela Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Brighton Ithutheng Sibanda National Treasurer, Colman Khanye National organiser, Nkanyiso Ngulube National security, Prince Moyo Matabeleland North Chairman, Clarence Ndlovu Vice Chairman of Matabeleland South
