Nkala: The Ndebele Prince of Darkness
On the 19th of October 2011, Enos Nkala, the great and treacherous political dinosaur cum former Defence Minister of Zimbabwe in the 80's and one of the Godfathers of Zanu PF and Mugabe's former henchman and loyalist lost his cool and became hot under the collar when he was challenged by our esteemed journalist, Lance Guma of SWRadioAfrica, to explain the notorious role he might have played in the planning of and the systematic execution of the Gukurahundi Genocide that was committed by his Zanu PF party, he helped form in 1963, against his own kith and kin in Matabeleland and Midland areas of Zimbabwe.
This genocide, a crime against humanity, resulted in the massacre of over 20 000 peace-loving, law abiding and God fearing Ndebele people of Zimbabwe. It also resulted in the mass exodus of the Ndebele peoples from Zimbabwe across to neighbouring countries and to other countries across the globe. Those who survived were to face the music of cultural and social subjugation, tribal and political hegemony, development and economic marginalization, intellectual and educational strangulation up to this present day. It is in this context and spirit that this article seeks to make a reflection on Nkala's dramatic and intellectually soiled presentation he made to SWRadioAfrica a few days ago. It must be pointed out that this infamous interview from the Prince of Darkness was agonizingly littered with arrogance, lies and half-truths throughout its duration.
The Infamous Interview
It must be said that Enos Nkala's interview with Lance Guma was punctuated with his intensely dramatic and breath-taking arrogance that equaled the arrogance of the late former president of Serbia, Slobodan Milosovec and his partner in crime, the former Bosnian Serb military chief, Gen. Ratko Mladic in the International Criminal Court of Justice at The Hague.
It is equally not surprising that Enos Nkala would behave in this way in denying his involvement in this dastardly genocidal event in our history, the first of its kind in Southern Africa. This kind of denialism forms the DNA psyche of these criminals and genocidaires. They always seek to passionately present themselves as the holy sons of God who are more sinned against that sinned, dressing themselves in Jehovah's white robes of purity and frantically bleating and mooing that they are the victims of conspiracies against their persons. The long and short of it is that these individuals have not in their hearts, the court of moral conscience. Such is the world outlook of the 'fly by night' politicians crafted from the hem of Zanu PF's cancerous ideology! Cde Nkala is nothing more than our Prince of Darkness.
Hot Under The Collar
One of the most dramatic moments of this interview, where Enos Nkala got extremely hot under the collar was when it was put to him that a Thembani Dube, in one of his articles once described him and Prof. Moyo, as arguably the worst Ndebele leaders the region has ever had since the formation of the Ndebele state by the elephant King of Kings, Mzilikazi kaMatshobana in 1821 and whether he thought this was a fair criticism of him. He reacted badly, lost his cool and breathed balls of fire and coughed gallons of blood, stating he did not give a 'damn if he was viewed as a bad person or not' and emphatically stating that everyone else was bad except him.
I still humbly maintain my opinion that Cde Enos Nkala is one of our worst leaders we have ever produced since the formation of the Ndebele nation. He cannot duck and dive this one! He sings lyrical about being proud of founding a genocidal party that went on to massacre his own people with him playing a significant role in it as a cabinet minister.
If cde Enos Nkala did not agree with Gukurahundi, why did he not resign from that government at the time and publicly state his position regarding the issue? He only left Zanu PF after being discarded for his involvement in the WillowGate scandal. His bitterness against Mugabe is based on this WillowGate scandal and the fact he was used and abused and later discarded after he had served his usefulness. Any tears that he is shedding about poor governance of that God forsaken country are tears of a personal feud between him and Mugabe. They are not tears of national interests but those of personal revenge against his old time friend. Cde Enos Nkala cannot sell us umkhuna as cakes! He is trying hard but it will not work for him!
It remains an indisputable fact of history that the rouble rousing Enos Nkala laid the foundation for the first ever genocide to be committed in southern Africa. Nkala's provocative political ranting against PF Zapu and The Zimbabwe Peoples' Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA) led to the dangerous clashes that took place between ZNLA and ZIPRA forces at Entumbane in the 80's.
Genocide Watch
If the recent events regarding this Gukurahundi Indaba within Zimbabwe and outside Zimbabwe are to be taken note of, then the Matabeleland movement for the quest for truth and justice regarding this matter, should only be fuelled and oiled further by such events.
Enos Nkala and his gang should be reminded that Gukurahundi remains an albatross around their necks. The recent declaration of Gukurahundi as a Genocide by Genocide Watch, an organization that seeks to end Genocides in the world by bringing those responsible for this heinous crime against humanity to prosecution in the International Criminal Court of Justice at the Hague should be sending shock waves or alarm bells to perpetrators of such crimes and a flicker of hope for truth and justice for the dead and surviving victims of this senseless crime.
Those who form and pride themselves of forming gangster and mafia parties who commit genocide against the innocent civilians using gangster armies such as the 5th Brigade shall soon not have a shelter to hide from.
Moses Mzila and The Organ of 'National Healing'
While this organ of national healing was created with the aim of manipulating the conditions for seeking truth and justice to favor the perpetrators of injustices in Zimbabwe in terms of creating conditions that would let them scot free for their injustices of the past and present, it has turned to be a nightmare organ for the perpetrators. They are probably regretting having ever agreed to the creation of such an organ under this so called new unity government that is always in perpetual disharmony like monkeys and baboons on some funny trees in the amazon forest.
Moses Mzila, as a victim of Gukurahundi crime has dealt with the issue very well and he has done a sterling job despite the harassment he has faced. One is left to ask about Sekai Holland of MDC-T. Where is this lady of the movement for democracy and justice?
The MDC-T has gained notoriety for using Gukurahundi as a vote earning political exercise in Matabeleland only to go behind the back of the people of Matabeleland to promise the perpetrators of Gukurahundi protection against prosecution for their crimes against the people of this region. The sons and daughters of Matabeleland are watching!
Sekai therefore cannot be seen advancing 'Ndebele interests' that Morgan Tswangirai always fought against in the united MDC as revealed in his recent book, as advancing such 'Ndebele interests' were going and are still going to put him in collision with those he seeks to protect for Gukurahundi crimes.
It is not surprising that after the 2005 split, he began to surround himself with those from Matabeleland who were happy to forego advancing 'Ndebele interests' in exchange of positions of power and money within his movement. These are our renegades and political mahobhoz from our region who will do anything for money and positions of power. Soon and very soon they should be able to see the light.
Of Gaddaffi and his Emperor Robes!
What a tragic end to one of the most brutal dictators of our times. The message is very clear to those who make criminality against their own a hobby of some sort. Who would have ever thought that the flamboyant Gaddaffi would one day be dragged out of a sewage drain? Unbelievable! For sure there are seasons for everything!
