Ajax Hotspurs 2 - 0 Amalanda
A goal in each half by Zimbabwe Under 20 international Team trialist Thulani "Thuske" Gumede sealed hard fought victory for Ajax Hotspurs who played 70minutes of the game with 10 men after young prodigy Chrispen Machisi was red carded for foul language. The homeside who started the game on a back-foot with former Ajax Hotspurs players Brian "Lilo" Mlilo and Thulani "Thuthuka" Mpofu threatened to run the show at Somhlolo Stadium in Mpopoma koBango.

When Ajax went into the overdrive, Amalanda went to sleep as Peter Muduhwa, Maxwell Mburayi,Chrispen Machisi and Gumede began to stamp their authority. Machisi slalomed pasta cluster of defenders and his centre destined for sleek Prince "Mpinju" Hlabangane was handled in the box and the referee rightfully pointed to the spot. Ajax Hotspurs has failed five times this season to score from the spot and when Gumede took the responsibility into his own hands, everyone took a deep breath. Gumede took a stride forward and dispatched his spot-kick to the west and the Amalanda gloves-man correctly dived to his left to palm away the ball much to the agony of Gumede and multitudes of Hotspurs followers.

Ajax Hotspurs did not despair neither did Thuske put his head down. Captain fantastic Maxwell Mburayi did well to twist and turn in the box and when his touch took him to an angle in the box, he displayed maturity of a veteran of tough battles as he unselfishly centred a square pass for young Hlabangane who stabbed home what was meant to be an opener but the far-side assistant ruled him offside. Ajax Hotspurs had sent in some quick warning shots to Amalanda(The Migratory Birds).

Gumede began to run ruggedly in midfield as he set-out to atone for his earlier penalty miss and when Esau Mvula sent in an inviting ball round the defence, Nqobilizwe "Dabuka" Ncube was in an offside position and Gumede ran deep from midfield to round off the goalkeeper and walk the ball into an empty net 1-0 Ajax Hotspurs and Amalanda was rocked and Mpopoma was celebrating.

However Ajax Hotspurs celebrations were short lived as live-wire Machisi was shown a straight red card for foul language. Hotspurs did not lose shape as they increased the paces and kept asking The Migratory Birds each time they had pocession of the ball. The Dabuka Express as Ncube is known was immaculate in his runs combining well with Mpinju to keep the Amalanda defence led by Darlington Dube on their toes.

Full of youth exuberance Ajax Hotspurs proved to all and sundry that No Youth No Future development what with young prodigies 12year old Reward Muza and 13 year old Denzel Khumalo on the bench were they going to introduced at a later stage with game seemingly hanging on the fence? Thuthuka and Lilo were now operating in flashes and in one of those moments of brilliance Thuthuka rounded second half substitute Archford Hadebe much to the amusement of some neutrals. Hadebe is a veteran of many battles and he took the setback in his stride to shut out Thuthuka's supply line and greatly innitiated attacks deep from his own half. Dabuka pulled wide on the left channel to receive a long searching pass from Zola as Archford is affectionately known beat two defenders before his switch play found Mburayin acres of space. Mburayi took the ball to the goal-line before pulling it to the penalty spot to pick out Dabuka who tried an Eto finish but horrible skied his effort much to the chagrin of the spectators.

It was now Ajax Hotspurs all over the show as Amalanda chances became few and far between with Darlington Dube seemingly eager to to atleast fight for a point. Gumede's flick sent Dabuka Express scumpering through face on with the keeper but he failed to dribble past the keeper with everyone off their seats. With the game firmly in Ajax Hotspurs hands as they created a glut of chances, Gumede completed his brace with a well taken curling effort past a fully stretched Amalanda goalkeeper and it was game over for Amalanda. 13 year old Denzil "Denzo" Khumalo was called in to mark a milestone for Ajax Hotspurs and probably Zimbabwe Football Association Bulawayo Metropolitan Province as the youngest player to play competitive Division Two match exactly 13 years 6 months 10 days. The boy had no palpitations as he strode into the field much to the amusement of his peers. He had two positive touches before the referee blew his final whistle. The Migratory Birds were shot down to earth and Ajax Hotspurs continue to cruise.
