Business women say government should acknowledge the capability of women in reviving the country's economy.
The business women made the call at the Harare International Airport this Friday where the ZIMPLATS signing ceremony was held.
Local business woman and economic analyst, Mrs Irene Musarurwa said most of the decision making boards in the country are male dominated.
She said women deserve to be given a chance to be at the forefront to prove their capabilities.
Mrs Musarurwa urged the government to empower young women through the indigenisation programme being spearheaded by Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere.
Zimbabwean mbira artist Hope Masike who attended the signing ceremony also concurred with Mrs Musarurwa saying women have the ability to uplift the economy if afforded the opportunity.
The past few decades have seen increased efforts to address gender inequalities as a way of empowering women.
Economic empowerment for women in Zimbabwe is, however, still associated with small-scale informal ventures such as cross-border trading, vending, hairdressing, subsistence farming and care work.
Mainstream economic activities such as mining, banking, manufacturing, construction and retail have remained largely male dominated.
