The South African kwaito singer Nomasonto Mnisi popularly known as "Mshoza" is reported to have came out of coma after a suicide attempt two days ago.
Nomasonto "Mshoza" Mnisi was still in the intensive care unit where she spent Monday night after allegedly overdosing on pills.
Mshoza's husband, Jacob Mnisi, declined to comment but referred Sowetan to his spokesman, Alex Matsimane, who confirmed the incident.
"The doctors say she is out of danger and should be discharged in a day or two," Matsimane said.
A source close to the couple said Mshoza left her home in eMalahleni (Witbank) on Friday, saying she wanted to see her doctor in Johannesburg for her skin treatment.
But, Mshoza allegedly went to the house of a friend, who was hosting a party for her child, and then partied in Soweto with another man for the weekend.
Mnisi allegedly found out on Sunday and decided to end their troubled relationship.
"I can confirm that Mshoza was admitted to hospital in Witbank [on Monday]," Matsimane said.
"Mnisi [Jacob] was on a business trip when he received a call from one of the helpers in the house, saying mam'Mnisi was not feeling well."
He said the helper noticed something was wrong when Mshoza could not speak or walk.
"Mnisi called one of his employees at his office and asked him to rush to the house."
The employee then took Mshoza to hospital.
Matsimane said allegations that Mnisi wanted to end his marriage, which has been on the rocks for some time, were untrue.
He said though Mnisi had moved out of their R3.5-million Witbank matrimonial house, he remained committed to Mshoza and did not intend ending their marriage .
"Mnisi still loves Mshoza and their two kids and he has been visiting her at hospital since she was admitted on Monday."
