Lady Gaga's hot new song "Born This Way" has broken the record for most song downloads in the first week by a woman, a record set four weeks ago by Britney Spears' hit single "Hold It Against Me." Even more impressive is that Gaga amassed 450,000 downloads (compared to Brit's 411,000) in less than three full days of availability.
Among male musicians, "Born" sits at fourth behind Flo Rida's "Right Round" (636,000), Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" (465,000), and Flo Rida's "Low" (460,000).
As for the airwaves, Sunday's Grammy winner and performer also broke the record for most plays in a song's first calendar week with 4,602, besting the other record held by Spears' "Hold It Against Me" by over 500 spins, and again, with four less days of availability.
These numbers, analysts believe, will be enough to land "Born This Way" at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart when it's released on Thursday.
