Former Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Samantha Tshuma has fallen ill. She becomes the second beauty queen to fall ill after Ginders Modelling Agency director, instructor and mentor Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda also fell ill a few weeks ago.
Could there be a jinx that is only affecting beauty queens from Bulawayo?
Sunday Leisure learnt that Tshuma had fallen ill but could not establish what ailment she was suffering from last Friday. "I cannot talk to you right now because I am not feeling well," she said.
The beauty queen also hinted that she might be relocating to Germany.
"I am still trying to put things together, if all goes well I might be leaving the country for Germany," she said.
She, however, did not give reasons why she was leaving the country.
"If you call me when I'm better I will explain to you why I am leaving Zimbabwe," said Tshuma.
Tshuma's reign came to an end this year after she handed over her crown to Harare model, Malaika Mushandu. She was also in the papers recently after it was reported that she was still struggling to get a driver's licence and preferred to be chauffeur driven.
Mpofu-Sibanda, on the other hand, is reported to be on the road to recovery after suffering from fatigue, as she "single-handedly" organised this year's Miss Tourism Zimbabwe.
Although a comment could not be obtained from Mpofu-Sibanda's side, a source close to her said she was recovering from home.
Mpofu-Sibanda was hospitalised some time last month at Galen House, as her condition was said to have deteriorated.
It was reported that she was later discharged from the hospital after observation.
The former actress was in charge of grooming and choreographing models at the Miss Tourism Zim pageant. She travelled with the models to and from Harare on several occasions to tourist destinations gearing up for the annual prestigious pageant.
Tshuma took up modelling as a career after she realised she had great potential in the industry after winning Miss Evelyn during her high school days.
She then went on to take the titles of Miss Zimbabwe Colleges, Miss Bulawayo Junior, Miss Culture Queen and Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, which was her 14th title.
Tshuma has been based in Harare since she was crowned Miss Tourism Zimbabwe last year and has also been attached to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
