Zimbabwe's Popular comedian Gringo says piracy has robbed him of a chance to own a car as the sales of the pirate plays he produces only benefits the criminals yet owners are wallowing in poverty.
Gringo real name Lazarus Boora was speaking after arriving in Chivhu in a Kombi for the premiere of the film Zvoitwa Sei Series 2.
"I came here in a Kombi but with all that I have done I should have driving my own car. But I cannot afford it because piracy has stolen most of what should have been mine," he said.
Gringo said the government must stop talking and come down hard on piracy. "We have all been brought down on our knees by piracy. It pains me that I cannot eat what I have produced. I feed other people's families.
"The government should come in and arrest these people and the courts must impose deterrent sentences," he said.
