Ace Kalanga Rhumba group Mlambos Express Band continues to make it's own history on the Zimbabwean and international music market this time by being the first local rhumba group to sale its music on the renowned world online music web sites Amazon and iTunes.
Speaking in an interview from the group's base in South Africa, band manager Thabani Ndlovu said the group was very excited to strike this first as they try to market their music to the international market. The two websites are home to many international musicians and artists who have found an easier and more secure place to sale their music away from music pirates. The music sales on the sites are constantly monitored by international promoters who get to know quickly which artist is on demand at any one time.
Mlambos Express' music took off to a good start immediately the music found its way on the sites with a good number of hits recorded on the online market.
To further make their music available on the market, the group recently signed a marketing contract which has seen the group's music finding its way to all Jet Music outlets and other major music shops in South Africa and the region. Ndlovu expressed his excitement for the group and encouraged their fans to purchase the original music from these platforms and not buy the pirated music sold on street corners.
"Most musicians find it difficult to have their music find space in the music shops as marketing agents insist on music they know will sale," said Ndlovu. "After getting this chance we encourage our fans to take advantage of this opportunity and buy our music from these outlets to keep the group high on the music charts."
As a further marketing tool, Ndlovu indicated that the group has opened a WhatsApp chat group where information about the group is sent out to fans as it happens. "We have opened a WhatsApp platform for our fans and the response is overwhelming. Our target is to have a million fans in our data base to make it easy for fans and promoters to keep in touch with the band," said Ndlovu.
The Super Legends as the group is affectionately known by its followers recently returned to their South African base after a very successful return home tour of Zimbabwe which saw them get to almost every corner of the country including a performance at President Robert Mugabe's 91st Birthday exclusive fund raising concert at Rufaro Stadium in Harare. Due to popular demand the group will from September this year take on an international tour which will see them start with a series of concerts in neighbouring Botswana before concluding the tour with a land mark tour of the United Kingdom early next year.
