Preparations for Mr Ugly Manicaland are underway with the provincial competition pegged for Pavillion Bar in Mutare on August 4.
About eight contestants have so far registered for the competition which will see the winner walking away with a yet undisclosed prize plus a ticket to Mr Ugly Zimbabwe to be held later this year in the capital.
Mr Ugly competitions have proved popular around the country after Harare Province held such a successful event last month. The Harare competition was won by William Masvinu who shrugged off stiff completion from seven other contestants.
The contest, which is supported by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, made headlines following its inception in Beitbridge a few years ago. The unique contest has the potential to become one of the biggest competitions in the country.
However, people have blasted the contest for its poor prizes with the reigning Mr Ugly Harare Masvinu getting a paltry of $100.
