JOHANNESBURG - The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) on Tuesday dismissed a complaint against prosecutor Gerrie Nel.
The grievance relates to his cross-examination of murder accused Oscar Pistorius in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
The Olympic and Paralympic athlete is accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his Pretoria East home on Valentine's Day last year.
Last week, the SAHRC confirmed it received a complaint from an advocate who objected to Nel calling Pistorius a liar.
The complainant claims the prosecutor infringed on the athlete's rights.
The commission says it is not allow it to intervene in any matter that's currently before a judicial body.
SAHRC spokesperson Isaac Mangena says they also found Judge Thokozile Masipa had taken adequate action.
"We noted that the matter is currently before another judicial body. That same body and the judge in that court had duly exercised authority. She reprimanded the prosecutor in question."
