President Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived in Moscow, Russia, to attend the third Russia-Africa Summit, which is expected to focus on trade, investment, food security, artificial intelligence and energy cooperation.

Mnangagwa was received by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Evgenievich Borisenko, Zimbabwe's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, Zimbabwean Ambassador to Russia Grey Marongwe and embassy officials.

The summit is expected to provide a platform for Russia and African countries to explore opportunities for deeper cooperation in economic development, science and technology, security and cultural exchanges.

Key issues on the agenda include digitalisation, nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, food security, trade and investment, as Russia and African nations seek to strengthen economic partnerships and identify areas of mutual interest.

Mnangagwa is expected to participate in the summit in his capacity as Chairperson of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), with discussions anticipated to focus on expanding trade and investment between Russia and the African continent.

The Zimbabwean leader is also expected to hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and address Zimbabweans living in Russia.

He is accompanied by Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion Senator Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya, Deputy Chief Secretary responsible for Presidential Communications George Charamba and other senior government officials.

The Russia-Africa Summit serves as a platform for strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Moscow and African countries, with participating governments seeking practical partnerships in areas considered critical to economic growth and development.
